WOYWW #140 and WIP #25........

Well what do I have on my work desk....

I am working on another Steampunk Challenge at Cloth Doll Artistry. This time we are to do animals and I have decided to do a fox....I like foxes.

I have made his head and fluffy tail and part of his body structure. I'll be beefing up his body a bit more as I put on his clothes.

He looks worried in this picture...LOL

I'll add his head after he's dressed a bit more.  His head, tail and hands are made from long hair faux fur fabric that I gave a haircut to.....I guess it's vintage fabric because I bought it about 1976 for a project and I have quite a chunk left...more foxes I think:)

I did a bit of googling for inspiration and I found that most of the SP fashions seem to be for women and what there is for men is pretty boring.

I found a few Google Images.....

I was thinking about spats to the knees......like the guy in the middle...or puttee like they always show Victorian explorers wearing.

And, an outlandish weapon maybe:)
Source
 I like this guys hat....
Source
 ??????? a bit much maybe.
Source
I like the straps on the vest.....
Source

or, a metal breastplate?
Source
And, I found other SP foxes so I'm not alone in this idea:)

I'm also thinking of making this WIP mouse into a Steampunk character too....maybe:)

So that's it from me for this Wednesday.

To see more workdesks go here at Stamping Ground and more WIP here at The Needle & Thread Network .......:)

Re: Basil Brush mentioned in the comments.....I had no idea who he was and had to google him....OMG!!!!!  We didn't get that show here in Canada but I must have seen a picture or something because that is the fox I imagined....LOL

He's worried cos he's in a jar that's why. He'll be much happier when he has clothes. Clever.

I must admit, I was somewhat confused as to why Basil Brush was sitting in a large jar on your desk!
Took me a minute to get past that image!! lol, but he looks fab, and a Steam punk version Of BB? struggling to think how Boom Boom, would work in steam Punk, but sure he will be fab!
Love the creative space hun,

Lots of great pics for ideas but he really doesn't look like a glass kind of fox. Much more wings and breastplate with a mean weapon.

Oh no, I gasped out loud when I saw the fox's head in a jar. I had visions of Mr Derick, boom boom!

Loving the sewing and how you are managing to merge steampunk and Basil Brush!

I thought he had a strong resemblance to Basil Brush too…the original one, not the one they use now. I can imagine what he’s going to look like dressed like that though so I look forward to seeing the finished article.

Happy Crafting!

Steampunk animals sound very interesting...especially the fox! Look forward to seeing him finished, and yes, he does look a bit worried sitting in that jar.

Well,I thought you'd been commissioned to make a Basil Brush, so am glad you've found out about him! Love your 'vintage' hairy fabric, made me LOL!! Like the SP angle, and I agree, an outlandish and ridiculous weapon is a must! And a top hat!! How fun!

This looks just glorious, and I love your references. Yes, I think a Steampunk Mr Fox would be really amazing and I can't wait to see how this goes. Could I feature this on my blog somewhere please. I'm just delighted with what you've done!.

It all looks very uncomfortable to me but I do like the look of your fox - I wonder what he is thinking!

Katie said...

He's probably just a little cold without all his clothes on, and worried about being naked on the internet! I hope you share him when he's all dressed and done :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy WOYWW!

It made me smile when I scrolled down the page and saw your fox peeking out of the jar, not at all what I was expecting. Can't wait to see how he turns out such a great project. x

I love this fox, but you must excuse me for not knowing much about "steampunk" . I do think he would look great in a top hat and paisley knickers and a red velvet waistcoat. Oh, and a striped vest.
Your work is delightful!
